Community Programs Overview
The Junior Center is proud to celebrate over 60 years of bringing quality arts and science programs to Bay Area schools.
Our programs offer students the opportunity to work with a practicing, professional artist or science educator and focus on first-hand learning experiences in the arts and sciences.
Our residencies support Common Core State Standards by encouraging critical thinking, communication, creativity and collaboration through creative exploration.
SCHOOL RESIDENCIES in FALL through SPRING
School residencies in Fall through Spring. Junior Center residences bring trained and experienced arts and science educators in the classroom to facilitate learning through hands-on making and experimentation. Residency programs are custom tailored to meet the need’s of each school based on budget, time and curricular needs. Residencies last anywhere between 8-weeks to a full year. Each residency offers:
- Hands-on creative and exploratory experiences that enhance student learning
- Standards aligned programming that support Common Core State Standards, Visual and Performing Arts Standards, and NGSS
- Highly skilled and experienced arts and science educators. Our educators are trained in state standards, community building strategies, and social emotional learning
