Looking for a fun and enriching way for your young creative to spend the day while you finish your holiday preparations? Join us on Monday and Tuesday, December 22 & 23 for our Winter Camp<\/strong>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our 2 day camp is packed with hands-on activities that celebrate the season. Campers will explore printmaking, digital illustration, and crafts,<\/strong> creating festive projects like luminaries, sculptures, and holiday cards<\/strong> to take home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Monday and Tuesday, Dec 22 & 23 9am – 3pm
$180 – $260 sliding scale<\/strong>

Campers will be split off into two age groups. Read the descriptions below to learn about each group\u2019s focus. Please note, registration is for a 2 day camp, there are no 1-day sign ups<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LUMINARY WONDERLAND<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Ages 6-8<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Explore the natural and illuminated wonders of Oakland’s historic Lake Merritt! Campers will become Winter Light Keepers as they discover the migrating birds of this vital wildlife refuge, create art inspired by the lake’s famous “Necklace of Lights,” and craft nature-inspired holiday keepsakes that celebrate light. This camp is a perfect blend of Bay Area ecology, hands-on visual arts, and festive cheer!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

FESTIVE DIGITAL ART<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Ages 9-11<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

This camp is the perfect blend of tech digital design and hands-on festive crafting. We’re turning imagination into beautiful, personalized gifts and greeting cards just in time for the winter season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Using iPads and the ProCreate drawing tool, you will learn the foundational skills of digital art: layers, brushes, and color palette. Whether it’s a sparkling snowflake pattern or a whimsical winter creature, your creation will be a one-of-a-kind digital illustration. We’ll dive into the world of both digital and multimedia artwork to bring your designs to life! You’ll learn to transfer your artwork onto materials to create custom cards, unique gifts, ornaments, and other holiday art. We’ll use traditional art supplies like paint, collage, and\u2014of course\u2014plenty of glitter!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

SLIDING SCALE PRICING<\/em><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

All JCAS classes are made available to families on a sliding scale. Families choose the amount they are able to pay, considering the top end of our scale is how much it costs us to run the class. We encourage families to help support our efforts to make programs available to those in need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If the sliding scale prices are still out of your family’s budget, we do offer scholarships. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Please give us 7 business days to process applications. All scholarship requests must be made by Friday, December 15th.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

JCAS is a 501c3 nonprofit dedicated to offering equitable access to arts and science education. We serve more than 1,500 students every year and most of our students \u2013 more than 70% \u2013 receive financial assistance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can now support our mission directly using our Pay It Forward Program. When registering your student for a class, you\u2019ll have the opportunity to Pay It Forward and contribute to our Scholarship Fund. Your donation ensures that students from all backgrounds can experience the joy and enrichment of our classes and camps\u2014at little to no cost to them.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

All purchases include a 10% non-refundable deposit to cover administrative costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From 11\/07 \u2013 12\/07,<\/strong> you will receive a 90% refund.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From 12\/08 \u2013 12\/19,<\/strong> you will receive a 40% refund.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
